Tuck
The shortening of the body during rotation on the pole to arrive at a deep, folded, upside-down position before extending along the pole.
Tuck is the shortening of the body during rotation on the pole, arriving at a deep, folded, upside-down position before extending the body along the pole.
The final folded position reached by the tuck is historically called the pocket. The extension out of that position is historically called the shoot — together giving the expression tuck and shoot.
The main biomechanical justification for the tuck is that shortening the body lever during rotation on the pole allows the athlete to arrive at the position in time to catch the recoiling pole.
